Medical & Surgical Services

Courtyard Animal Hospital believes that preventative care is the foundation for maintaining the health of your pet. The annual wellness exam is a time for you and your veterinarian to evaluate all aspects of your pet’s life. A thorough physical exam, coupled with discussion regarding nutrition, exercise, and behavior help us paint a picture as to what is considered normal for your pet. Annual laboratory tests complete the picture of wellness for your pet. Subtle changes in any of these normal can alert us to the possibility of illness and enable us to further work up a potential problem before it worsens. All laboratory testing, vaccinations, and wellness recommendations are tailor made to your pet’s individual needs.

Puppy and Kitten Wellness

A new puppy or kitten is an exciting addition to the family. And, just like a baby, they need extra care and attention. We want to ensure our patients’ health is the best it can be right from the start. Proper examination, nutrition, vaccination, and parasite prevention is a must. Puppies and kittens need to be seen by a veterinarian every 3-4 weeks until they are about 4-5 months old.

Geriatric Wellness

1 year in the life of a 12 year old pet can bring much more physical change than 1 year in the life of a 4 year old pet. We recommend bi-annual wellness exams for all senior dogs and cats. Our Senior Wellness Package includes comprehensive blood and urine tests, blood pressure, EKG and chest radiographs at a discounted rate. We want to ensure that our seniors are as happy and healthy as they can be.

Microchipping

Courtyard Animal Hospital uses the Home Again microchip system. The microchip is implanted underneath the skin in between the shoulder blades. This can be done at any exam and does not require anesthesia. The size of a grain of rice, this chip contains a number that when put into the computer system, contains all your vital information. Should your pet get lost,  hospitals and shelters have the scanners that will read the chip and ensure your pet’s safe return. If you are planning on international travel with your pet, most countries require pets to have a microchip.
